Pilot Plant
WPC has invested over 30 years and $100 million in research and development of plasma technology.
WPC’s Plasma Center provides complete testing, development and evaluations using high temperature plasma heating. Gasification tests can be conducted as a means to determine:
- product gas composition
- energy content
- emissions
- optimal Plasma Gasification Vitrification Reactor design parameters

Our parent company, Alter Nrg can provide other services to assist project developers, these include:
Financial Budgeting and Modeling Support
Prior to developers committing to engineering and design support for projects, Alter Nrg can first provide you with a scoping level capital estimate and economic model for your project.
Engineering and Design Support
Our parent company, Alter Nrg can customize our level of involvement to meet your plasma project needs. We can provide a fabricated plasma gasification system or we can limit our involvement to the design of the plasma gasifier and the delivery of the plasma torch systems.
If it would be beneficial, our parent company, Alter Nrg also has the expertise to provide the preliminary engineering design and project economics for entire projects (plasma gasification system and balance of plant).
Parts and Service Support
WPC will provide ongoing parts and service support over the life of the plasma gasification system.
Pilot Plant
Using the data from over a 100 pilot tests in WPC’s pilot plant and with over 100 tests conducted outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Alter Nrg and WPC have developed a plasma gasification simulation program which is used as the template for the design and performance modeling of our gasification systems. Additionally, the WPC pilot plant, is available to test our customers feed materials and validate the modeling assumptions if required to support project financing and permitting needs.
